Our past, present and future

SCRO's history
and vision

Our joy and passion for what we do shines through, and this has grown from the culture that Ulrika Hammarström started when she founded Scandinavian CRO in 2007. The key to our success has been staying true to SCRO’s core values, as well as developing our team members and creating a strong vision together.

Our story

When I was 7 years old, my best friend Carina was diagnosed with diabetes. I still remember the raw fear I felt because I didn’t know anything about this chronic disease or how Carina’s life would be affected.

Developing pharmaceutical and medical device products is a complicated and highly regulated process with the ultimate goal of discovering innovative treatments for patients that need it. As long as I can remember, this higher purpose has sparked my curiosity, drive and imagination.

To make a difference, I started Scandinavian CRO in 2007 with the hope of making the latest clinical research available to all of us. You, me, and the world around us. I am also personally driven by entrepreneurship and building a successful team, with an overarching goal of creating a company that values its people, relationships and work-life balance. Since 2007, our company culture has been guided by these values as well as by being agile and continually adapting to the changing world around us.

It’s also important to me to listen and be attentive, as well as being able to show my vulnerability to others because vulnerability requires strength. All of these values affect our relationships – with colleagues, clients, healthcare professionals and others. And I believe that the rewards are great when you lead with an open heart firmly rooted in your values.

Scandinavian CRO has become a leading CRO in Scandinavia and was awarded the Gaselle, both in 2012 and 2017, attesting to the company’s continued sustainability and growth. During the next 5 years, SCRO plans to double its workforce and continue expanding into the Nordic countries. I believe that SCRO’s success is directly related to its people and our value-based company culture, and I’m thrilled to take Scandinavian CRO towards the next step in this journey. And I hope that you, in one way or another, would also like to be part of this fantastic journey!

“Building a strong and sustainable company is extremely important to me. At SCRO, we’ve created a unique culture that values joy and agility. This is evident in our work and shows up in what we do and how we do it. It’s also evident in our relationships with each other and our customers.”
