Senior consultant at Scandinavian CRO

Sophie started her career in academic research and teaching at Uppsala University but made the move to industry almost 15 years ago. Her daily mission at Scandinavian CRO is to help companies improve the quality of their projects; be it writing a clinical study report, conducting a clinical evaluation, or running a device development project. She has learned that in all of these endeavors, knowing your target audience and focusing on what matters is critical.

What websites do you visit most often?
PubMed and Rotten Tomatoes.

What do you wish you knew more about?
Programming and computer science; the spectacular possibilities of AI are both enchanting and terrifying at the same time.

What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
“Medical device development” or “Innovation – conceptually”.

What do you spend the most time thinking about?
“Why” and “how” about basically anything; from the ingenious anatomy of the smallest insect to the never ceasing wonder of human behavior.

Clinical Project Manager (CPM) at Scandinavian CRO

Jeanette has over 20 years of experience working as a nurse, including a leading role as Emergency Unit Head Nurse and special training in trauma care and pre-hospital care management. She has also worked with clinical studies as a Research Nurse, Study Coordinator and Clinical Research Associate, as well as working in MedTech as Medical Affairs Manager. Jeanette currently works as a CPM based at Scandinavian CRO’s Gothenburg office.

Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?
Oh, there are so many! But if I have to choose one it would be Kathrine Switzer, the first woman who participated in the Boston Marathon as an official registered competitor. During her run, race official Jock Semple repeatedly assaulted Kathrine, trying to grab her bib number and stop her from competing. After knocking down Kathrine’s trainer and fellow runner Arnie Briggs when he tried to protect her, Semple was shoved to the ground by Switzer’s boyfriend, Thomas Miller, who was running with her, and she completed the race. This was in 1967, and what specifically impresses me is Kathrine’s bravery and determination, as well as her fellow runners protecting her throughout the race. Teamwork at its best!

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Philanthropy for sure, with a mix of business angel. There are so many exciting players within the life science and health sectors who are in need of both financial support and expertise.

What are some small things that make your day better?
Laughter! I’m a sucker for practical jokes. A typical Gothenburg joke always works, which means I’m obviously easy to amuse!

Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) and Clinical Project Manager (CPM) at Scandinavian CRO

Jessica began her career as an emergency care nurse. In 2004, she started working with clinical trials as a research nurse. Currently, Jessica works as a CRA. Her specialities are primarily oncology as well as heart and coronary artery disease.

How do you relax after a hard day of work?
I usually de-stress by working out or taking a long walk in the woods with my neighbor’s dog.

What question would you most like to know the answer to?
How to cure cancer!

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
I would spend the extra time with my loved ones and also start a new hobby.

Among your friends and family, what are you famous for?
My stubbornness and that I can never sit still!
