Researchers at Karolinska Institute and Danderyds Hospital have shown in a new study that patients without SARS-CoV-2 virus in their blood have a larger chance for rapid recovery.
In contrast, patients with measurable levels of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in their blood were more likely to develop critical symptoms and die within 28 days.
“This readily available test allows us to identify patient groups at high or low risk of severe COVID-19, which enables us to better guide the treatment and monitoring of these patients, says Karl Hagman, Infectious Disease Specialist at Danderyds Hospital.
